Cult Nails Super Powers Week: Power Thief

Cult Nails Power Thief 2

The second polish that I have for you from the Cult Nails Super Power collection is Power Thief.  It is a chocolate brown polish with intense silver shimmer.  I am not usually a brown girl, but this polish is light enough to change my mind.  The reason I don’t like most browns is that I do not like warm colors against my skin tone, but the silver shimmer cools the chocolate down nicely.

Cult Nails Power Thief

The formula of this polish was a little bit thick, but it also allowed me to get away with just two coats.  Here it is shown over Sally Hansen Nail Quencher and topped over with CND Air Dry.  I really want to get my hands on the new treatments by Cult Nails as well!

Cult Nails Super Powers Week: Mind Control

Cult Nails Mind Control

This week I will be bringing you 4 new polishes from the Cult Nails Super Powers collection!  First up is Mind Control, a gorgeous smoky black jelly with duochrome flecks that shift from gold to purple.  I wore it alone (above) and it was beautiful, so smooth and shiny!  After all the glitters I have worn lately I really enjoyed a polish with a smooth finish.  The formula was spot on!

Cult Nails Mind Control

I had trouble capturing the beauty of Mind Control on camera, so today I decided to try it with some underwear!  I layered one coat of Mind Control over one coat of nails inc black taxi.  Finding the perfect underwear for your polish allows the beauty of your polish to shine through!

Cult Nails Mind Control

Stay tuned for more from the Cult Nails Super Powers collection!

About Cult Nails

Cult Nails was the dream of nail blogger R3 Daily otherwise known as Maria Morrison. Ever since Maria was a little girl she loved nail polish and all things nail related. Maria knew when she grew up she would work in the nail industry. Of course at the time she thought she would be doing nails in her own salon. Life however had other plans for Maria.  She obtained a Bachelor's degree in Business Management and Human Resources. While her career took a detour, Maria's passion for doing her nails and those of her friends continued. If Maria couldn't find the color she was looking for, she would mix colors together to get the right look. Maria started her blog R3daily in January 2010 and her passion continued to grow and so did her polish collection. After a while though Maria realized that most polish companies were coming out with similar colors each season and still she was mixing colors to achieve her desired look. Maria finally took matters into her own hands and has developed a line that doesn't just follow nail and fashion trends, but blends the fashion trends to blaze the way for new and innovative polish colors for polish fanatics everywhere.

Maria didn't stop there, her goal is to have a green company. Her polish is B3 Free which means they don't contain Toluene, Formaldehyde or Dibutyl Phthalate. But she didn't stop there, Cult Nails Nail Lacquers are also free of Camphor. Cult Nails is a Cruelty Free company and does not test on animals or use products that are tested on animals or that are animal byproducts. All polish is Vegan friendly. In keeping with our green initiatives all packaging is recyclable and some even reusable.  We use only recycled/recyclable boxes to ship our polish that can be reused or recycled by the consumer and utilize cotton balls for our packaging materials. This not only allows the polish to be protected during shipment, but supplies our customers with some of the materials  needed to remove their old polish once our product arrives! The cotton ball initiative, as we like to call it, was a concept from Maria's 12 year old daughter.

I can’t stop hoarding… Makeup Bags

In the past few months, I seem to be obtaining quite a few makeup bags.  I am too ashamed to show you the rest of them – there are too many (and some are dirty!).  These are my latest three acquisitions.

1.  Missoni for Target – I just got this last week, I found it in the clearance section!  Must have been a return.  I paid $12.49 for it and I love love love it!

2011-11-28_12-16-25_543 (800x566)2011-11-28_12-16-44_436 (800x800)2011-11-28_12-16-50_409 (800x800)

2.  Calypso for Target – this collection came out in the late Spring.  I kept my eye on this every single Target visit, until it went down to around $6.  Score!

3.  This last bag was sent to me for review by Bob at Simply-Bags.  It’s called the Spa Bag for a reason – you can fit everything for a spa day, vacation or trips to the gym.

I can fit SO MUCH STUFF in this bag!  Usually when I pack, my makeup goes in a few bags, but my brushes and hairdryer are left to roll around in my suitcase.  This bag holds a full size hair dryer, a full size round brush, full size shampoo and conditioner, and still room for MORE STUFF!  I love that it’s made of terry cloth, if my shampoo or conditioner leaks I can just throw it in the washing machine!

How many makeup bags do you have?

Sick of Cyber Monday? SHOP FOR A CAUSE!!!

Here's an opportunity to shop for a great cause: the BeautyBloggers.org annual charity auction.

For the second year in a row, beauty bloggers and brands have joined forces for an online auction benefitting Doctors Without Borders.

Participants have donated a treasure trove of the best lotions, potions, products, and gadgets. Donated items range from the hottest items from this year’s holiday collections to hard-to-find exclusives and limited edition cult favorites. When the auction ends, winning bidders "pay" by making their donations directly to Doctors Without Borders, through the site’s secure giving page.

The auction will be live Monday, November 28th through Monday, December 12th.

For my polish addicts, here are some of my favorites!

There are even MORE polish lots available, check them out at BeautyBloggers.org!

For your reference:
  • Our web address is BeautyBloggers.org (note the plural; note the .org)
  • Our auction items are visible, but no one can bid until November 28th. They can register, and they can "bookmark" their favorite items (it's a way of filtering the list).
  • When you register with the site, your first name, last name, and email address are private.  You should use an email address you check regularly, because that's how we get in touch with the winning bidders.  Email addresses will not be used for any other purpose.

Today’s NOTD: OPI Hollywood Blonde

OPI Hollywood Blonde 4
I have wanted this polish since the first time I saw kittytokaren wearing it a year and a half ago!  OPI Hollywood Blonde is from the much coveted 2007 Holiday in Hollywood collection.  I love the ‘crystal’ finish - It’s like fairy dust on your nails!  I used Starting Over After Artificials for my base, two coats of polish, and CND Air Dry for my top coat.
OPI Hollywood Blonde 3OPI Hollywood Blonde
Hollywood Blonde is easy enough to find on evilbay if you want to pay $$$.   I was lucky enough to score this for under $8, which included shipping! You can also check out the other polish I have from the Holiday in Hollywood collection, Have You Seen My Limo? here.

The Muppet Glitters, my way!

A lot of people have mentioned that they were not thrilled with the number of coats it took the build the Muppet glitters up to opacity.  Rather than fight them I decided to layer them over my new favorite black one-coater, nails inc. black taxi.  I LOVE THEM!  Tell me what you think it the comments.

FingerPaints Merry & Bright Collection

Click on each image or name of the polish to see the full size image!

Winter SkyYule Be MerryComet's CollarDrummer Boy over Winter SkySanta Kisses over Yule Be MerryFrosty Night over Comet's Collar

FingerPaints is a very underestimated brand, IMO.  The formula is great and the price is right ($4.99 each).  The holiday collection this year is no different.  The colors are not 100% original, but they are done RIGHT.

Drummer Boy over Winter SkyDrummer Boy over Winter Sky

My favorite out of the collection is Winter Sky, is it a one coat wonder!  I wore it for almost 24 hours after I swatched it – I simply didn’t want to take it off!  So shiny and perfect… like fantastic plastic.  Drummer Boyspices it up perfectly!

Comet's CollarComet's Collar

Comet’s Collar has a shimmery, almost foil finish.  I can’t wait to wear it again and layer it over a darker color!

Santa Kisses over Yule Be MerrySanta Kisses over Yule Be Merry

Can you have too many red glitters?  Not when it’s Christmas time!  And not when it’s called Santa Kisses!  I really appreciate the glitters in this collection; they are small and easy to apply.  So many of the glitters this season are a PITA, these are a relief!

The FingerPaints Fall Merry & Bright collection is available now at Sally Beauty and SallyBeauty.com, and they retail for $4.99 each.

Free Shipping on Target.com for RedCard Holders!

I am REALLY far behind in my RSS reader, this was announced over a week ago and I only just discovered it!
Target Announces Free Shipping Every Day on Target.com for REDcard Purchases
MINNEAPOLIS (Nov. 7, 2011) — Target Corporation (NYSE: TGT) today announced a new benefit to its already popular REDcard Rewards loyalty program: free shipping on Target.com purchases when guests use their REDcards. In addition, for the first time Target Debit Cards can be used on Target.com.

That means that you can use your Target Debit Card to buy the little things from the Beauty department that you can't find in store, save 5%, AND get FREE SHIPPING!  Yes!  I love Tar-get so I will definitely be taking advantage of this.  If you don't have a Target Debit Card, it's very simple to sign up.  Just take your checkbook and a drivers license to your local Target and you can sign up in a few minutes.  It's not a credit card, it's your debit card tied to a Target Rewards card.  I have already saved a ton of money with mine, 5% adds up fast!

Here are a few items I found this morning on Target.com to give you some ideas!
