When I posted these quick skittle swatches of the Fall 2012 China Glaze On Safari collection, I was asked multiple times if China Glaze Jungle Queen was a dupe for Chanel Paradoxal. Let’s find out, shall we?
First, let’s take an up close look at Jungle Queen.
Like Chanel Paradoxal, China Glaze Jungle Queen is a chameleon. It shifts from a cool purple (artificial light with flash) to a yummy eggplant (natural light, shade) to a rich purple with pink shimmer (direct sunlight).
Ready for the comparison? I know you are!

While the colors are very similar, the base of the Chanel is more purple-brown, while the China Glaze is more purple-grey. Also the Chanel is more sheer, which is why the pink shimmer is more apparent in the Chanel than in the China Glaze. The overall appearance of the China Glaze is cooler and darker than the Chanel - the shimmer almost looks blue rather than pink in some lights!

Final thoughts? If you already have Paradoxal and LOVE it, you may consider picking up Jungle Queen as an “alternate back up” aka buy it and wear it as much as you want so that you don’t use up all of your Paradoxal (mine has a pretty significant dent in it already).
If you don’t have Paradoxal, Jungle Queen is an excellent lemming killer, but it’s not a “true” dupe.
If you don’t care about the Chanel and just think this shade is pretty, more power to you! Jungle Queen rocks and I ♥ it!
