China Glaze No Plain Jane vs. Nicole by OPI Iris My Case - Are They Dupes?

Nicole by OPI Iris My Case vs. China Glaze No Plain Jane (2)

Pin ItI recently received two polishes in the mail, only a day apart:  China Glaze No Plain Jane (from the Bohemian collection) and Nicole by OPI Iris My Case (from the 2012 Target Exclusive collection).  Both polishes are duochromes.

I couldn’t believe my eyes when I opened that second package… they appeared to be dead-on dupes!

I immediately set out to swatch them, and as you can see they are in fact dupes.  I could not find a single discernable difference!  Each time I “thought’ I had found a difference, it was really the duochrome nature of the polish.  In some lights the shade is a deeper purple, while in others it is a mauve-bronze purple.

Now when it comes to formula and application, there is a distinct difference.  The China Glaze formula was thicker and tended to “goop up” around the mouth of the bottle.   Also,  the thin China Glaze brush required many more strokes than the wide and flat Nicole brush.  Since this polish shows brushstrokes (more obvious on my real nail than on the wheel) I am in favor of the Nicole!

Have you seen either of these polishes in person yet?  I heard that some people have already found the Nicole at Target, but my local Target doesn't have them yet (they are available on Target's website).  I also noticed the China Glaze Bohemian Collection was up on Sally’s website!
