Coming Soon: Mariah Carey for OPI (featuring Liquid Sand)

I may not be in love with the idea of a Mariah Carey collection, but I am in love with these Liquid Sand polishes!  They look so fun, even though I don't know if the texture will literally drive me crazy and end up with me picking it off my nails.  There will be four Studio (regular) shades and four Liquid Sand lacquers.

One thing to note:  it seems in 2013 OPI’s retail price will increase from $8.50 to $9.00.

Makeup Wars - Battle of the BB Creams (with Skin79 Swatches and Comparisons)

It’s time for another Makeup Wars post!  I haven’t done one in a long time, so I am super excited to be taking part in this one!  And it’s on my favorite topic (besides nail polish) - BB Creams!  (If you want to know a little bit on the origin of BB Creams, check out my post here.)

I have been using BB Creams for almost two years now, and for those entire two years I have been loyal to one BB Cream - Skin79 VIP Gold Super Plus.  I have flirted with others in the past, most notably 3LAB BB Perfect SPF 40/PA+++ but I always come back to Skin79 VIP Gold Super Plus.  So when the website WishTrend offered to send me other Skin79 BB Cream samples, I happily agreed!



First, let me tell you exactly why I love Skin79 VIP Gold Super Plus.  I have dry skin that is very neutral - not cool, not warm, true neutral.  You would think that would make it even easier for me to find foundations that are right for my skin tone, but unfortunately that is not true!  My Skin79 is perfect for me.  When first applied, it looks slightly grey but after 60 seconds it looks perfectly natural.  It is very thick and creamy and my dry skin drinks it right up.  It has very good coverage and I usually don’t even need concealer. 

With that said, let’s look at the BB Creams that were sent to me!  I received four, three which were new to me.  Here are their descriptions from the Skin79 website:

• Snail Nutrition Cream - Containing 45% of the Korean Snail Secretion Filtrate, supplying sleek and lustrous texture to the skin, preventing skin damage, and keeps skin moist and healthy by forming a moist protection layer (um, gross?)
• VIP Gold Super Plus - Ingredients with an abundance of nutrition keep skin resilient and moist and its whitening and wrinkle fighting properties helps maintain clear and resilient skin, while giving the skin a natural and bright look
• Hot Pink Super Plus -  Moisture based triple function BB cream takes care of the base as well as color makeup and allows the skin to look bright and natural without greasiness or feeling tight
• Super Plus Triple Function - Upgraded Sunscreen with UVA and UVB protection SPF50. Strengthens skin NMF and maintain balanced skin condition. Osmopur-N and Vital-V Complex soothe and protect skin from various harmful environments to make a moisturized, healthy skin

Of the four BB Creams, VIP Gold Super Plus and Super Plus Triple Function are the most similar in color and texture, but VIP Gold Super Plus is still creamier.  The Hot Pink Super Plus is too dry and too yellow for me, and the Snail Nutrition smells horrible.  (Snail secretion?  Eww.)

I am glad that I had the chance to try other Skin79 BB Creams - but I still love my VIP Gold Super Plus!  You can find it on Amazon here.
