Alessandro Sweet Blackberry ♥ Swatches & Brand Review

Alessandro Bottle

New brand alert!  Alessandro, also known as the sister brand to Tweezerman, is one of the leading luxury nail polish and hand care brands in Europe that has officially crossed the ocean to launch  in the USA!

Alessandro Bottle Alessandro Bottle

I am just going to come out and say it - this is not the most interesting color that Alessandro makes, so I am going to review the brand as a whole.  The bottle is short and wide with a large black cap, decorated with the Alessandro peacock on top.  The cap is almost the size of the bottle, which I thought would make it difficult to hold, but I found that the place for your thumb made it very easy to hold.

The shade I received to review was Sweet Blackberry, a dusty rose shimmer with tiny blue and pink twinkling particles.  Gorgeous finish, but dusty rose?  Not my cup of tea!  Lovely formula, though slightly thin, it required three coats.  The combination of the handle and the short, wide brush made the polish very easy to control.

Just because I received this color to review doesn’t mean Alessandro only makes boring colors!  I really loved the dusty lilac shade that from Harshleen from Beauty Tidbits received, but she didn’t!  That’s why Alessandro has 99 shades for you to choose from on their US website, where they retail for $12.00 each.

Salon Perfect Neon Collision Collection ♥ Swatches and Review

Salon Perfect Neon Collision

Salon Perfect, a brand available exclusively at Walmart, is releasing an awesome, matte neon glitter jam-packed polish collection for summer called Neon Collision that you need to purchase ASAP!

Salon Perfect KaboomSalon Perfect KaboomSalon Perfect Kaboom

Kaboom is a collision of turquoise and yellow neon matte glitter.  Yes, it’s the Floam dupe!  A dupe that’s only $3.98, I might add!

Salon Perfect BangSalon Perfect BangSalon Perfect Bang

Bang is a collision of orange and yellow neon matte glitter.  It’s fruity and happy!

Salon Perfect ExplodedSalon Perfect ExplodedSalon Perfect Exploded

Exploded is a collision of reddish orange and yellow neon glitter.

The Salon Perfect® Neon Collision collection includes three other shades:
• Jolt – Yellow and orange collision
• Shocked – Hot pink and turquoise collision
• Zapped – Yellow and turquoise collision

The release date is set for June, but many of my Facebook and Instagram followers have reported purchasing them already.  I really, really, really can’t wait until my Walmart stocks the other three polishes in this collection, because they are all made of awesome!

All of the polishes were slightly thick, but easy to apply.  However, I would advise against using Seche Vite with this polish - after 24 hours, my polish began popping off in one solid piece.  It looked just like a press-on nail!  This often happens when polishes consist of all glitter and no pigment.  Not to worry, a non-quick dry top coat should solve the problem!  And if it doesn’t, just reapply your “press-on nail” with Orly Smudge Fixer.  Just apply it to the back of the polish (like glue) and pop it back on on your nail bed!

Makeup Wars: Favorite Sunscreen

This week edition of Makeup Wars is EASY - what's your favorite sunscreen? It didn't take me more than 5 seconds to grab my two bottles of Elta MD and snap a picture of them!

I became aware of this brand through the infamous Pink Sith (you can see her review here). I immediately figured out a way to use my healthcare flex card to purchase two bottles on drugstore.com - the UV Lotion SPF 30 (for body) and the UV Daily Broad-Spectrum SPF 40 (for face). Of course, I make sure every time I shop on drugstore.com (or its sister-site, beauty.com) I go through Ebates, so I can get paid to shop!

I love the facial sunscreen for several reasons:
  • It doesn't smell strongly of sunscreen
  • It is white but blends into skin easily
  • It's moisturizing (great for dry skin)
  • It contains HA to plump up any fine lines I may or may not have!

I recently became obsessed with another SPF product - Supergoop! SPF 30 Lip Balm, which comes in either AcaiFusion or MintFusion. They both smell delicious, but the Mint one mysteriously disappeared once my husband tried it, so the AcaiFusion has found a permanent home in my purse. I love it because it has great slip yet still lasts long on my lips - I can go almost two hours without reapplying, which for me is a very long time. The best part is that it doesn't smell or taste like SPF!

Check out the favorite sunscreens of the rest of the Makeup Wars bloggers below!
