OPI San Francisco - The Shimmers ♥ Swatches and Review

OPI San Francisco - The Shimmers

This fall OPI is bringing us 15 new polishes for their San Francisco collection!  6 shimmers, 6 crèmes, and 3 Liquid Sand polishes.  Today I have the Shimmers for you!  To avoid repeating myself, I used two coats for all shades.  The pictures are taken without topcoat.

OPI Dining Al Frisco OPI Dining Al Frisco OPI Dining Al Frisco

Dining Al Frisco is a blue frost with tiny cyan shimmers mixed in.  Since this is a frost it very slowly and carefully to avoid brushstrokes.  The effort is worth it!  I usually avoid frosts like the plague but I quite like this one!

OPI Haven't the Foggiest OPI Haven't the Foggiest OPI Haven't the Foggiest

Haven’t the Foggiest is a darkened silver shimmer that I love.  It’s worth noting that I did see the faintest of brush strokes.  I this color for representing fog!

OPI Peace & Love & OPI OPI Peace & Love & OPI OPI Peace & Love & OPI

Peace & Love & OPI is a duochrome that shifts from gunmetal to purple to a dark green teal.  I could not truly capture it’s magic on camera but believe me when I say this one is a stunner!

OPI Muir Muir On The Wall OPI Muir Muir On The Wall OPI Muir Muir On The Wall OPI Muir Muir On The Wall

Muir Muir on the Wall (named after Muir Woods) is a sexy scarlet shimmer in a smoky black base.  This vampy shade is perfect for fall!  I can see myself wearing this one frequently.

OPI Embarca-Dare Ya! OPI Embarca-Dare Ya! OPI Embarca-Dare Ya!

Embarca-Dare Ya! is a pretty yet boring magenta shimmer.  I feel like we have all seen this shade before.

OPI I Kneed Sour-Dough OPI I Kneed Sour-Dough OPI I Kneed Sour-Dough

I Knead Sour-Dough is a pink shimmer in a brown base, which gives it a very unique appearance of oxidized rust.  Although I am not drawn to these warmer shades, I can see a lot of people loving this one.

The OPI San Francisco collection officially launches August 7th.  Which shades are on your wish list?  Which do you want to see next - the crèmes or the Liquid Sands?

Top Ten Tuesdays - What's in my Beach Bag?

This week's edition of Top Ten Tuesday is taking a peak into each of our beach bags!  Now I have to admit that I haven't been to the beach in a long, long time, but I do frequent our community pool often.  It's very nice for a community pool, and it even has a lazy river!  So without further ado, here are the things I cannot live without in my beach bag:

  1. The bag itself!  I found mine this year in the seasonal section at Target.  It looks just like this one from Target, except it has white stars!  I love that it has a clear outside pocket, where I can keep little things that I need to find quickly - like my phone, sunscreen, etc!
  2. My beach towel!  I love beach towels, I feel the need to buy a new one every year!  I picked this one up from Target (see a pattern here?) and I love that it is super long.
  3. Cheap Sunglasses - I am the queen of losing expensive sunglasses, so you will never find me wearing a designer pair.  I tend to buy them frequently, though, so I am sure I spend as much money in the long run!  I pick them up at Ann Taylor LOFT.
  4. Super cute and super cheap sandals - I recently picked these ones up at Old Navy for $5!
  5. Reading Materials - I like to switch it up between trashy celeb mags, InStyle and more serious reading material.  Currently that is an biography on Cleopatra.
  6. SPF - L'Oreal Sublime Sun SPF 50 for all over and Neutrogena Wet Skin in the spray can for when I get out of the pool.
  7. More SPF - Can't forget your lips!  I am still loving Supergoop! AcaiFusion SPF 30 Lip Balm.  This has replaced Jack Black as my favorite lip balm with SPF!
  8. Wet Brush - Have you tried The Wet Brush yet?  Now that I have I can't live without it!  It's amazing flexible bristles can tame my wet tangles without pulling out all my hair!  I have the Wet Brush Squirt in pink - it's so cute!
  9. Carrots!  We actually love to "sneak" snacks into the pool in my Thirty-One mini cooler.  You know everybody does it!  Plus the only thing they have at the snack bar are fried foods.
  10. Coola Radical Recovery After-Sun Lotion  -I like to this bring it with me in in my mini cooler.  Imperative to have on hand when you realized you've stayed out in the sun too long - or worse, missed a spot when applying sunscreen!  It contains all kinds of good for you ingredients like Agave, Aloe, Lavender Oil, Rosemary Extract and Sunflower oil.

Do you have any of the same items in your beach bag?
Check out these the Top Ten Lists of my friends below.  I hope to find some killer ideas myself!

butter LONDON Colour Clash - Giddy Kipper and Pimms

butter LONDON Giddy Kipper and Pimms 4

butter LONDON is taking a different spin on fall this year with it’s Colour Clash collection.  Instead of autumn shades, butter LONDON is bringing us an entire collection of brights!  I have two of those brights here for you today - Giddy Kipper and Pimms.

butter LONDON Giddy Kipper and Pimms

Giddy Kipper is my new obsession.  I thought this beautiful blue was a crème, but alas it has hidden shimmer!  I love this color so much that I have already worn it twice on my tips and for a week on my toes.  It is the perfect blue to compliment anyone’s skin tone!

Pimms is a smooth yellow crème.  Too bright to be a buttercup yellow, it’s more like a sunflower yellow.  You can see it compared to butter LONDON Cheeky Chops and Jasper here

Overall I love both Giddy Kipper and Pimms.  They aren’t your typical fall colors, but that’s okay we can wear them NOW!

3 butter LONDON Yellows (and an Illamasqua for good measure)

Yellow Ombre with butter LONDON and Illamasqua

Have you noticed how many yellows butter LONDON has released recently?  Most brands have a hard time creating a yellow crème, so I am glad that butter LONDON has found a way not to release one good one but three!

Pimms - Colour Clash Collection (Fall 2013)
Cheeky Chops - Pop Art Collection (review)
Jasper - Sweetie Shop Collection (review)

As soon as I received Pimms from the Colour Clash collection I knew I would have to do a comparison!  I decided to take it one step further and do a full on ombre manicure… I didn’t have a fourth butter LONDON yellow so I grabbed Illamasqua Load to round it out.

One thing I always like to do when applying a yellow polish is applying a basecoat that does double duty as “underwear.”  My underwear of choice used to be Barielle Nail Camouflage, but lately I have exclusively been using butter LONDON Nail Foundation.  It provides a matte beige base that allows crèmes to apply evenly and easily!  It’s definitely achieved Holy Grail status for me!

Which one of these yellows call out to you?
What’s your go to “underwear” polish?
