butter LONDON LIPPY Shimmer ♥ Swatches and Review

butter LONDON LIPPY Shimmer

This summer add some shimmer and shine to your summer wardrobe with new glosses from the butter LONDON LIPPY Shimmer Collection!  The summer collection consists of six shades that retail for $20 each: Beaker (clear iridescent shimmer), Tickety Boo (sheer blush shimmer), Swish (sheer apricot shimmer), Wag (sheer peachy pink with gold flecks),  Punch Up (sheer strawberry shimmer) and Pip Pip (sheer golden bronze).

I received three shades to review:  Pip Pip, Wag and Tickety Boo.  I am always dying to know the meaning behind the British slang used to name butter LONDON products, so here they are!
Pip Pip - A way to bid farewell, often used by the upper classes.
Wag - Term used primarily by the British tabloid press to describe the wives and girlfriends of high-profile footballers.
Tickety Boo - A saying for when something is going well.

Compared to the LIPPY Liquid Lipstick, the Lippy Shimmer appears much larger, when in fact the liquid lipstick is 0.24 fl oz. and the shimmer is 0.25 fl oz. They both have the same delicious sweet carmel-y smell (not plasticy like the original formula).

Another difference between the LIPPY Liquid Lipstick and the LIPPY Shimmer is the applicator.  The liquid lipstick uses a small doe foot applicator, where as the lipgloss uses a wand brush.  I myself perfect the doe foot applicator, as I feel it is much easier to apply without a mirror.

Now for the part you really wanted to see - swatches!

Please keep in mind that I did swatch them heavily on my arm so that you could see the complexity of each shade.   I also included a swatch of Toff LIPPY Liquid Lipstick (which I reviewed here) so that you can see the difference in texture.

butter LONDON Pip Pip vs MAC VIVA GLAM V

While swatching Pip Pip I found that it reminded me of another gloss in my collection, MAC VIVA Glam V.  I never find myself wearing the MAC because the shade tends to wash me out.  The shimmer in Pip Pip makes the shade much more wearable for me!

As stated above, butter LONDON intended these to be sheer washes of shimmer, which is exactly what they are.  If you are looking for a punch of pigment, then reach for a LIPPY Liquid Lipstick.  If you are looking for an easy wash of shimmer than the LIPPY Shimmer Is perfect!  In the summer I do find myself reaching for the shimmers more than the liquid lipstick.

Do you see yourself wearing a sheer wash of shimmer this summer, or are you still reaching for something with a more pigmented punch?
