This week the Makeup Wars bloggers are all creating a look with one of three palettes – Urban Decay Naked Basics, Naked2 Basics (which is now up on Sephora), or the Pulp Fiction Palette. While I do own all three, I could not pass up the chance to channel my inner Mia Wallace the Pulp Fiction Palette!
Before we get started on the look, I wanted to show you a quick comparison between the highlight/base shades in the Naked Basics, Naked2 Basics, and the Pulp Fiction Palette.
Anger and Righteous – Pulp Fiction
Venus, Foxy and W.O.S. – Naked Basics
Stark and Skimp – Naked2 Basics
I wanted to point this out for those of you who are pale like me. I actually rely on what most people consider base or highlight shades as lid shades, due to my deep set eyes. I was rather disappointed in the Naked2 Basics palette – Stark and Skimp are both too dark for my taste.
After applying a layer of Urban Decay Eyeshadow Primer Potion Tube - Original to my lids, I used Righteous as an all over base shade. I then applied Vengeance in the crease with a fluffy blending brush. I traced Furious on both my upper and lower lids with an angled brush, and popped Anger in the center of my lid to make my eyes pop.
I finished the look by skipping foundation and applying It Cosmetics Bye Bye Redness Correcting Crème only where needed, then evened out my skin with the Hourglass Ambient Lighting Palette by applying Dim Light all over very lightly to give my skin a more even appearance, Radiant Light in place of a blush/bronzer and Incandescent Light to highlight on my cheekbones, center of my forehead and down my nose. I finished off the look with two layers of CoverGirl LashBlast Waterproof Volume Mascara and Mally Beauty Ultimate Performance Lip System in Crimson.
I love the way this look turned out, but I will admit out of the three palette, the original Naked Basics is still my favorite!
