New York Color Queen's Jewels Crystal Couture Topcoats

NYC New York Color is a brand that I am familiar with, but never collected.  That is about to change with Fall 2014’s Queen’s Jewels Collection.  This collection is made up of six Crystal Couture Topcoats and three cremes.  I am showing you my personal picks from this collection today – Ruby Queen, Queen’s Jewels, Blue Majesty, My Princess and Rule the City.  Although this is a fall collection, I have a feeling I will be reaching for a lot of these during the holidays!

Ruby Queen is a red jelly with red microglitter and larger purple glitter.  The formula on this was incredible!  It was a thick (in a good way), gel-like formula that went exactly where I wanted it to when applied and only needed two coats to reach this opacity.  I see no need to layer this one.  I wish all glitters were this easy to apply!

Queen’s Jewels is a green jelly with green microglitter.  The formula on this polish was thinner than Ruby Queen but still easy to manipulate, once I figured out that I really needed to load up the brush.  This is shown with two coats.  Again, I didn’t feel the need to wear this over a base.  This is an amazing shade and I can’t wait to wear it this holiday season.  I’ve said it once, and I’ll say it again – YOU NEED THIS GREEN!

Blue Majesty is a stunning blue jelly with three different sizes of blue glitter.  The formula on this was the same as Queen’s Jewels – I really needed to load up the brush, but I felt it didn’t need layered.  Two coats.

My Princess is a purple jelly filled with two sizes of purple glitter and blue microglitter.  This one I really wanted to love, but I think it would be best layered.  Even after I loaded the brush with polish, I needed three coats to get even coverage.  I also had a harder time with the application, the polish kept trying to flood my cuticle.

NYC New York Color Rule The City (shade)NYC New York Color Rule The City (sun)

Rule the City is a surprise favorite for me.  It’s the only polish that doesn’t have a jelly base, instead it is a gunmetal base with matching glitter so small that it’s barely a shimmer, but so densely packed that it only needed one coat.  I thought it would need more than that, so I did layer this one over a brown crème.  The red microglitter really makes it stand out.  This polish is a keeper!

At $1.99 per bottle, I definitely plan on hunting down backups!
