A Recent NOTD: Rococo Stone Cold Karma

Press Sample Affiliate Link

Rococo Stone Cold Karma

I recently felt the need to "cleanse my palette" so I reached for Rococo Stone Cold Karma.  It's a pretty shimmery nude that is perfect for when you are on glitter overload!  When I first saw this polish on The Beauty Look Book, I loved how it pulled grey-mauve on Sabrina's skintone.  Unfortunately for me it pulled very beige.  Still pretty... but beige.  I still really like it, I just wish it were more mauve!

What colors have recently disappointed you after your applied them?

My First POPSUGAR Must Have Box (featuring Brokedown Ikat Scarf)

March POPSUGAR Must Have Box
As a member of POPSUGAR Select, I was able to receive the March POPSUGAR Must Have box for review!  I apologize that it took me so long to get this post up, as this box is no longer available.  However, it will give you a good idea of how the POPSUGAR Select Box works.

I myself was confused by POPSUGAR Select.  We are all so used to makeup boxes that I didn’t understand that this was a lifestyle box, not a makeup box!  Each month you receive an item from the following categories: Must Have Fashion, Must Have Beauty, Must Have Fashion, Must Have Home, Must Have Fitness and Must Have Food.

For my March Box I received:
POPSUGAR Must Have Box - Scarf

My thoughts on each:

Brokedown Blue Ikat Scarf – This was the big ticket item of the box.  Initially I wasn’t that excited about it, as I don’t wear scarves!  I thought about giving it away, until I played with it and fell in love with how soft it is.  If any of you are petite and well endowed, I would love to hear how you like to wear scarves!

Jurlique Herbal Recovery Advanced Serum – I have heard good things about Jurlique but my skin is out of control right now and I don’t know what it was that broke me out, so I will not be introducing any new skincare into my routine at this time.

Dogeared Lucky Horseshoe Make a Wish Necklace – I didn’t know what to think about this necklace, but I put it on for my birthday, made my wish, and I haven’t wanted to take it off since!  Which is weird, because I have trouble wearing most necklaces.  Either they get tangled in my hair or I feel like it’s choking me.  I have none of those problems with this necklace!  When it breaks, my wish is supposed to come true!  And as much as I would like that to happen, I want to keep wearing this necklace!

BaubleBar Elephant Ring Tree – I think this is adorable.  Since I work retail and have a very physical job, I do not wear jewelry to work.  Hopefully I can put this to good use some day, but for now he will sit on my Expedit and keep me company.

ActiveForever Fusion Exercise Ball – The ball arrived deflated.  It was supposed to come with a straw to blow it up but I couldn’t find it!  I managed to inflate it the old fashion way.  Not really sure if I will use it as it’s intended (you can follow the idea’s in the post on POPSUGAR’s blog) but it makes a great dodgeball!

Harvest Snaps Snapea Crisps – I ignored these until today.  They sat, unwanted and unloved, in the corner of my room.  I finally opened them today AND ATE THE WHOLE BAG.  I will definitely be buying more this weekend!

Nature's Bakery All Natural Stone Ground Whole Wheat Strawberry Fig Bars – I am glad this was considered an extra because I don’t like figs.  I tried it, just to make sure.  And I STILL don’t like figs!

I also received discount codes for Jurlique (15%), Baublebar (20%) and Dogeared (20%).

Overall, I am very happy with this box and would not have minded paying $39.99 for it!  My favorite items (if you can’t tell) are the scarf, the Make a Wish Necklace and the Harvest Snaps.

What do you think of the idea of a lifestyle box?  Have you ever purchased one from POPSUGAR?

Coming Soon: butter LONDON Lolly Brights

Nothing to Disclose

butter LONDON Lolly Brights polishes

I’m so excited for the butter LONDON Lolly Brights collection.  Want to know why?  They are releasing two of my favorite butter LONDON shades, Stroppy and Chuffed!  Stroppy and Chuffed were originally released al part of the Jelly Collection, way back in Spring 2010 (you can see bottle shots here).  They were very sheer jellies, great for Syrup Nails!  In fact, the very first Syrup Nails I ever did I used Stroppy

The new versions of these Stroppy and Chuffed will have a different formula.  I am excited to see how they compare to the originals!  My guess is that they will not be as sheer.  They may not even be jellies!  Chuffed also appears to be a different shade altogether…

Here are bottle shots of all six shades in the Lolly Brights collection:

Stroppy

chuffed

Airy_Fairy

Jammy

Ladybird

Sozzled

The entire Lolly Brights Collection can be purchased at ulta.com starting April 2014.

Did you own any of the original butter LONDON Jelly polishes?
Which polish from this collection are YOU most excited about?

My Kmart Beauty Clearance Haul

Purchased by Me

I know what you are thinking?  Kmart?  Who still shops at Kmart?  I normally forget Kmart still exists, to be honest, but some HTF drugstore collections do seem to pop up there first!  I didn't find any new drugstore collections, but I did find this:

My Kmart Beauty Clearance Haul

I read about some changes happening at Kmart last week on Nouveau Cheap.  I finally made it there today and made out like a bandit!  I was so excited that I forgot to take a picture of the clearance section, but the amount of product it had on it was similar to what you can see here.  Just less organized!

Revlon Colorstay and Brilliant Strength polishes

The Revlon polishes were marked down to $2.00 each!  I picked up Stormy Night, Indigo Night, Midnight, Rain Forest, Bonsai, Entice, Tantalize and Beguile.

L'Oreal Infallible Eyeshadows

Before this shopping trip I only owned four of these Infallibles… now I have almost doubled that!  These were marked either $1.99 or $2.00 each.  I picked up Midnight Blue, Sultry Smoke, Eternal Black, Golden Emerald, Endless Pearl, Endless Sea and Bronzed Taupe.  There were around six more shades that I didn’t bring home!

L'Oreal nail polishes

Ever since L’Oreal bought Essie, the quality of their nail polish has been steadily improving, so I was happy to bring home Greyt Expectations, Safari Chic, Grecian Goddess, Not a Cloud in Sight and Jet Set to Paris!  They were each marked down to $1.49 or $1.50.

Milani Shadow Eyez and Revlon Lip Butter in Pink TruffleSally Hansen Insta Gel Strips

I grabbed two Milani Shadow Eyez for $1.50 each in Aquatic Style and Royal Purple.  I only saw one Revlon Lip Butter, which happens to be my absolute number one holy grail lip color – Pink Truffle.  When I saw it had been marked down to $2.00, I confirmed that it is no longer in Kmart’s permanent display.  While I am happy to find it at such a bargin, I hope this doesn’t mean it will be discontinued!  I have bought this lip butter six or seven times!

Kmart Clearance Haul

As you can see, the most expensive thing I brought home was the houndstooth Sally Hansen Insta Gel Strips.  I can’t resist houndstooth!

I was so distracted by the clearance that I almost forgot to look for the OPI polishes that Kmart has started to carry!  I saw some very old OPI’s in the brand new OPI display, just as described in G’s blog post!  I plan on going back for some, but I needed to check my stash first!

Have you hit up Kmart lately?  Did you go as nuts as me?

FingerPaints Shredded Chromes

Bored of Spring pastels?  FingerPaints can fix that with their Shredded Chromes collection!

FingerPaints Stardust Blush

FingerPaints Stargazing Lilac

FingerPaints Metallic Moondust
FingerPaints Metallic Moondust

I used two coats for all of the polishes, and the only one that could have benefitted from a third would be Crystalline Crush.  Overall, I really do like this collection, but I think Gilded Chrome is the only chrome-like polish.  It's super shiny and flashy, as you would expect chrome to be.  The rest are textured metallic glitters... very pretty textured metallic glitters!  I especially love the combination of silver, gold and green in Metallic Moondust.

Which one is your favorite?

OPI Muppets Most Wanted (Soft Shades 2014) ♥ Swatches & Review

Press Sample

OPI Muppets Most Wanted

For their 2014 Soft Shades collection, OPI has taken a twist with The Muppet’s Most Wanted.  In addition to the usual pale nudes and shimmer we have a vibrant blue shimmer, a two-toned duochrome and 3 glitters!  Glitters are not that unusual in Soft Shades collections, but one of these is actually Mylar shards!

OPI Chillin' Like a VillianOPI Gaining Mole-mentum (over Chillin' Like a Villian)

OPI I Love ApplauseOPI Let's Do Anything We Want (over I Love Applause)

OPI Miss Piggy's Big NumberOPI Muppets World Tour (over Miss Piggy's Big Number)

OPI Int'l Crime CaperOPI Kermit Me to Speak

OPI Int'l Crime Caper (over Miss Piggy's Big Number)OPI Kermit Speak to Me (sun)

While I thought this wasn't the best representative of a bridal collection (that’s what the Soft Shades are supposed to be) I did really like a few of the polishes!

The crème nudes, Chillin’ Like A Villain and I Love Applause, had a fantastic formula that only needed two coats.  Miss Piggy’s Big Number and Kermit Me to Speak had a very thin formula that did not run or pool in my cuticles.  The formula was reminiscent of old school OPI, but without all the yucky chemicals!  Int’l Crime Caper is a very pretty (very bridal) shimmer that looks lovely layered over Miss Piggy’s Big Number.

The duochrome shift in Kermit Me to Speak was actually easier to see indoors than out, which surprised me.  It’s definitely something you need to check out in person!  The tricolor gold, silver and rose gold Mylar shard flakes in Gaining Mole-mentum were actually quite stunning.  I don’t usually go for the “shard” polishes, but this one is a keeper!

This collection is available now wherever OPI polishes are sold.  I have already spotted it at ULTA!

My top two picks from this collection are Gaining Mole-mentum and Kermit Me to Speak.

OPI Spotlight On Glitter ♥ Swatches and Review (Dupe Alert!)

Press Sample

OPI Spotlight On Glitter

OPI Spotlight On Glitter is a small collection of six glitters that was released in conjunction with OPI Glitter Off.  I was surprised that OPI was releasing a collection of six all new glitters… then I realized several of these are dupes or near dupes of previous limited edition glitters.  This can be a good or bad thing.  Good if you missed those previous limited edition glitters.  Bad if you love glitters so you already own all the original versions!

OPI I Reached My Goal over Live.Love.Carnival

I Reached My Gold is a large gold hex glitter, small holographic hex glitter, and micro holographic glitter in a clear base.  It is basically the same polish as When Monkey Fly, except OPI seems to have cured the curling “taco” glitter problem.  The large hex glitter here lies flat, though the reflective quality of it makes it look like it still curls.  Here  applied one layer of OPI Live.Love.Carnival.

OPI Chasing Rainbows over I Just Can't Cope-A-Cabana

Chasing Rainbows is a “Happy Birthday” glitter with two sizes of multicolored hex glitter with smaller multicolored glitter.  It seems to be an updated version of OPI Rainbow Connection (which was a dupe of Nicole Rainbow in the S-Kylie).  Unfortunately, I don’t own either of those polishes to do an extact comparison, but from looking at swatches Chasing Rainbows appears to be more dense.  Can any of you confirm if Rainbow Connection had two sizes of hex glitter?  Here I applied one layer of Chasing Rainbows over OPI I Just Can’t Cope-A-Cabana.

OPI Desperately Seeking Sequins over Thanks A Windmillion

Desperately Seeking Sequins is a mix of small holographic hex glitter and micro holographic bar glitter.  It is a dead on dupe for OPI Which is Witch?  Here I applied one layer over OPI Thanks A Windmillion.

OPI You Pink Too Much over Taupe-less Beach

You Pink Too Much is a rose gold hex glitter with silver and gold micro glitter in a clear base.  It is a dead on dupe for OPI Pink Yet Lavender.  I love how it looks layered over OPI Taupe-less Beach.

OPI Rose of Light over Planks Alot

Rose of Light is a square holographic glitter and rose gold microglitter in a clear base.  It’s my favorite of the bunch because I love rose gold and I love square glitter!  This is one coat over OPI Planks A Lot.

OPI Blush Hour over You're Such A Buda-pest

Blush Hour is a pink and purple hex glitter with purple microglitter in pink tinted base.  Since I could tell that this one would be very bumpy if I wore several layers of alone, I applied one layer over OPI You’re Such a Buda-pest.  The combination of a periwinkle base and the pink tint created a beautiful purple mani!

What do you think of this collection?  Are you going to pick up any glitters you missed the first time around?  I must say that I am in love with the two “new” glitters, Blush Hour and Rose of Light!
